Now that most of us who are apart of the black community are on the verge of a trump presidency, our only solution is to be involved directly with the political landscape of their local areas and the nation at large. We also must do so in a way that has never been done before. We have to get out of this mode of voting when it matters to being more vigilant on a daily basis. I know people who are mad Trump won but sat home on the night of their child's parent teacher conference. This is just an example of the disconnect many of us have when it comes to actually making real change happen for ourselves.
The first step is finding out the people who work for your city and state. Get their office location, email and phone numbers. Write them in a special address book and just make a habit of calling/visiting their offices emailing them and even sending letters. You have time for everything else....learn to take politics in your own hands even at a small level. As you make a habit of doing it, it will become 2nd nature you to notify your elected officials and becoming more informed about solutions that are on the table.
The media circus is over. The real work begins today if you're up to it.
