How is it that people interpret the theory of evolution as "we came from monkeys"?

monkeys, chimps, whatever...

Where does this misunderstanding come from? Mental blocks when the subject was brought up in class? :dwillhuh:

Those people hear what they want to hear. They want it to be wrong so they create a straw man to discredit it. They will gladly compromise their own intelligence if it means they can influence people too lazy to read for themselves not to buy into evolution.

Maybe because in most evolution charts, the first stage is always a monkey? :dahell:

Yeah and those charts are misleading, and pretty irresponsible given how simplistic people tend to view things. Whoever makes charts like that should know better, or maybe are just Christians.

Either way, misleading charts don't mean that's what the theory really says

Most people don't understand the fundamentals of evolution so the chart is the first thing that pops up in their head.:yeshrug:

:ld: I was just answering the thread question on why most ppl see it that way, n those charts we all grow up seeing seems to be the most logical explanation.

But yea I know there's more to it, I be on that discovery channel :myman:

And that chart is accurate it's just that people tend to think of evolution as being linear rather than branching off as depicted beneath each period of species development.

We share a common ancestor with apes.

:usure:

Evolution is a fraudulent concept.

I don't believe in it. What is real is that we share a common ancestor with the 'neanderthal' man.

yet there are humans on this planet that don't have ANY neanderthal in them.

How is that possible? :blessed:

It's hard for some folks to comprehend millions of years' worth of changes, let alone an average person's lifespan. I guess it also throws a wrench into whatever theories they perpetrate these days (race, religion, class, etc.).

Certain animals like the saber-tooth and woolly mammoth aren't roaming the prairies...

...minus any Doctor Moreaus/Jurassic Park lab freaks out there!
