You don't need organized religion to do these things though. We're allegedly this "higher level" species but we need a promise to be blessed by God to do good for each other?
Not saying there aren't people with innate good wills who are religious or attend church, but (to paraphrase Martin Luther) if your main reason for these good deeds are to ensure your passage to Heaven, then you're really just a phoney putting up a front. Good people do good things regardless of some eternal reward

I do good regardless. I'm not here to covert You church hurt/ da white manes' god enslaved our peoples brehs. I stand firm on what I believe for me and mine.
Touche about church just like you don't need to live in a black neighborhood or go to an african centred school to be for the betterment of ya peoples. Folks like Jermain Shoemake aka Umar Johnson swears You do.

The adoption of all three Abrahamic religion by African groups was a syncretic process too, as is the case for many cultural exchanges.
But that nuanced reality doesn't allow to paint their Black followers as worshippers of the "white man's god" or the "sand cac's god", so it gets tossed to the side for superficial understandings of "traditional" African religions, as if many of those Abrahamic manifestations weren't traditional themselves.
