I predict we'll see the rudiments of functional life extension with 75 years, probably 50. Not spinning back the clock but preventive decline that will most likely work on slowling the degradation of telomeres:

We'll see that get to a "grow then hold" so people are in their mid 20s for as long as they pay their subscription:

Then it will be a rapid decline into old times and death but a massively extended prime. During this era we'll also see the rise of subdermal implants that make this possible as people are connected directly to a wetware net and instant messaging will literally beam pictures to anothers head. Social media will be a virtual experience and movies will be replaced with Feelies where its not just audio visual perception but actual first person recreation and nervous system stimulation:

JBO brehs will never leave home...

All of this due to some silicon. Still think life isn't a Game you're playing using your Soul as a credit?

Don’t even think I want to be immortal.

Imagine having to work a job for the rest of your life with no end in sight

That "By the sweat of your brow shall you earn your bread" program will be deleted from the human lexicon when most people are dead and the rest manageable via remote tech.

In many respects life now will seem like hell compared to those who are augmented, segmented and living in a very different kind of environment as they play the next level of the Game. Just as we look at cavemen. Their era will have their own kind of challenge...

We’re not meant to be here that long

Life is barely long enough to get good at one thing. On the flip its possible to look at our current lifespans as immensely stunted due to inculcated ignorance of our natural features.

Did you know that modern adepts and those disconnected from civilization breathe around 4 breaths per minute? Consider that in terms of regulation, aging and metabolism and suddenly the old legends around the world which say man used to live far longer with much greater strength and skill may not just be fables.

I still find it pretty wild that most people get through life knowing plenty about everything but have no Knowledge of Self. That is simply mind blowing.

Accept no substitute!

Good thread. I also see this occurring but no closer than 500 years.

Cancer cell research will play a key role. Those cells are immortal. In fact read about Henrietta Lacks and her cells role in research if you never knew

I’ve been chugging mercury like the old Chinese emperors that lived 300-500 years.

but modern technology have removed all the impurities that ended killing those china men so I think I’m already at the point of semi-immortality.

I think i read somewhere that humans haven't yet reach their peak lifespan. Like one day it will be normal for that average person to live to be 120. But i don't think it will ever be more than that. after a certain point your cells don't replicate anymore and start degrading. no way to reverse that. We might find a way to keep our bodies in peak physical condition for the entirety of those 120 years though. like we basically 25 at 80. due to growing extra parts in labs, but the brain can't be replaced.
