How long did they portray Ric Flair as an Old Man?

Because he was only 53 when he started Evolution. He was depicted as this over the hill crazy senior citizen in WCW toward the late 90s

By 1993 Flair was pretty much the only one from the inaugural Starrcade ‘84 card still active.

Heck Jim Herd was already trying to phase him out in 1990.

He was pretty much the last reminder of that NWA era with the same gimmick.

It's kinda funny that this thread exists because one of the last things my grandfather said to me lucid was regarding ric. We used to watch wrestling together as a kid and this was around the time that the rock came back in 2011. So I'm telling him the rock was back and he didn't really care, but then he locks on the TV and ric is there. And he asks me if that was like ric flair and I'm like yeah. And he hits me with and he's still wrestling? And i really didnt have an answer for him

Ric was always viewed as old.
Even when I was a kid tho.
It doesn't matter.
Flair was mostly fye at any age.
Plusbhis booking challenged you. Although sometimes to iron gauntlet. That the nwa being a better product. Never had a gateway star because ric was a scourge with rhe title and the book. Yet ric still put on classics that are all time top five tho.

shyt after he left wwe. He still had classics inring with Mick to Jay lethal. As well as probably the definitive 2000 promo with lethal and the woo off.

I was thinking about this the other day about its wild how Edge is in a main event program for the world title and Jeff Jarrett was on his “improbable last world title contender final run”…and they’re both in their 50s a couple years apart…then I see this thread and find out they’re both older than Flair was in his final WCW run, and the same age basically or older than him in Evolution

He's always looked old AF. I honestly think it's the 'legendary' steady cardio, it ages you when it's that extreme. Before anyone comes at me, look at marathon runners.
