How long does it take to be a "true fan"?

This question applies to fans of a team that just moved into the area, and it goes for "bandwagoners" who latch on to the thrilling success of a local team they didn't previously care about. How long does it take a person to go from "Say, this team is somewhat relevant to me and my interests" to "DAMMIT ROWAND STOP SWINGING AT THAT OR I WILL CUT MYSELF"?

If you start as a frontrunner, you have to go through a long losing period and stick with them, that's the rule to me.

Bottom line you gotta go through the bad times to earn your stripes, even if it's your hometown team. If you fall out of fandom during the bad years and come back during the good, then you're not a true fan.

fukk what people think and root for whoever you like. If you are a bandwagoner embrace it, if you like the team then keep it moving.

We generally develop into a fan during our teens and this is based off where you live, what you see on tv. Generally winners are shown more and as such, you will have more fans for that specific team.

I went to school in LA and was surprised that as bad as the Clippers were, they were entertaining as hell and the tickets were sometimes even $5 I quickly became a fan, especially since I wasn't gonna root for no Hobe Ffwd yeaaaaars later and the Clippers got CP3 and we gonna take it to the finals this year Years of sufferation finally came through

Nah, the diehard fan is always better than the bandwagon fan.

Because when it comes to enjoying the game, the diehard enjoys it more because when his team wins it actually means something. There was a lot of time invested into that win, when the bandwagon fans team win it's just a trend to them.

They`ll leave once that team starts losing.

Plus also, when talking about sports, the bandwagon fan gets no love, they`ll try and talk up "their" team but everyone knows they're a fraud. You can't be proud of a rental

Nah there definitely isn't grades of fans when it comes to good fans, it's not like you're a better fan because you got season tix, because that's an economic thing.
