A year and a half at least unless you've known her for years. If you don't want to marry her after being with her for 2-3 years, then let her go and find someone else.

Just give long hard thought to as if your ready...If it took you 3 years to decide you want to make her your fiancee then you might want to give it thought as to why and if your really ready for or if shes the one you want to spend your life with.
