I ask cause I just saw some black player for Philly punched a NY Rangers player in the face and gave him a concussion. And I was honestly shocked to see a black hockey player.

there are two darkskinned black bruhs on my squad, (montreal Canadiens )one of the two is currently a top 10 defenseman In The nhl. Google PK Subban. He won the Norris trophy in 2013 as the best defenseman In hockey.

A number of those current pro players are playing in farm teams so you won't see them on the ice, but they do have contracts with the associate pro teams.
Just to put things in perspective, there are two pro black goalies listed. But Malcolm Subban is playing on a farm team of Boston, Providence Bruins. Ray Emery is playing with a German pro team now. That means there are zero black goalies in the NHL right now.
