Story goes, California prison system was becoming too overpopulated with black gangs and they started shipping gang members out across the U.S. Dudes get out of prison, don't go back to Cali, and bring whatever set they were in back in Cali to the state they currently are in.

It's not just the East Coast, the South and Midwest were just as bad when it came to claiming and misrepresenting West Coast gangs.

Like I said, the non LA gangs kinda butchered the knowledge or whatever that came from LA, and that seemed to be the biggest issue that the LA dudes had; like "don't misrepresent our gang".
You know if somebody whispers "peas" into the next persons ear it becomes "trees", then "skis", then "skateboard"; they were gangbanging with info that only got passed around by word of mouth, there were no archives and books like "LA gangbanging for dummies"

And a lot of the dude that's brought they're set to these new states, weren't on good terms back in Cali, like they were snitches or didn't have the rank to start up circles/sets.

To make things worst The Midwest and South also had a lot of Chicago gangs, so you ended up with weird hybrid gangs/set and confusion like people thinking a "Hoover Crip" was a Crip/Gangster Disciple hybrid because of Larry "Hoover".

Thank to the internet though a lot of sets outside of LA finally have their info correct and can go to LA with some acceptance by the Gangbangers over there.
