For those who don't know, quora.com is a question and answer site and I think I joined up because I needed an answer to something and they forced me to sign up...ever since I always be getting their emails and it is always something leading me to click and read
it then becomes the quora rabbithole
How can I keep people from parking in front of my house? I come home and neighbor's car is always in front of my house. Can I ask them to move it?
I don't think you can do much about it but I spent a tiny bit and got a set of these. Tire dollies. Maybe $100 a set.
And then I got one of these.
I think mine was $30 or so.
So, this easy. Once you notice the car blocking your driveway you just jack up each wheel, slip a dolly under it, lower that wheel. Do that three more times.
I'm pretty lucky. I live on a slight hill. I just gently push the car down while turning it until it's completely blocking the street two houses down. Then I jack up each wheel, take out my dolly, lower it again, repeat. I leave with my dollies and jack rolling behind me on my cable. Once they are in the garage I move my car out and leave, or else I move my car back and go relax. Either way my driveway is clear.
Not sure what the city charges for parking like that and towing it away. Probably a lot. They came and asked me about it once. I told them I never park in the street for very long myself. That's it. My neighbor has borrowed my dollies and jack too.
Anyway, I guess there were some complaints but the city put up signs saying no more “on street parking” between 5:30 pm and 7:30 am. Our local cop came by and told us to just call if anybody was parked after 5:30 and the tow company would zip right out. I love it when things work out great for everybody.

What was a loophole that you found and exploited the hell out of?
I’m sure you’re familiar with Starbucks.
Well, Starbucks have these membership cards that you can purchase for about $5.
These cards aren't SUPER useful at first glance. It's putting your money on a card that can ONLY be used to buy coffee, after all. Why do that when you can just use actual money?
Well, there's more to it then meets the eye for us cheapskates.
You see, being a member and getting your own card means that you get a free drink once a year for your birthday. And you don't have to show your birth certificate for them to determine your birthday. You simply fill out all that information when you first buy the card.
Because you can't just change the information once you've uploaded it, people think, "Hey, why not just get a free coffee every year?"
For people like me, we want more.
Now, this is technically illegal, but if one HYPOTHETICALLY bought 365 cards, and set a different birthdate for each of them — one for each day of the year, of course — then they could get a free coffee.
Every day. For the rest of their life.
And before you tell me that it’s unethical and morally wrong, look at this picture:
And try telling me that again.
Oh, the temptation…
Love, Gabren
