How many people here grew up with an allowance?

This is how it was for me. Probably got like 3 bucks a day. Sometimes I'd just hold out on lunch so i could atleast have 6 dollars the next day. By junior year I was working at Burger King and eating well

Never got an allowance. Got 5 dollars a day for lunch from my dad. Bumped up to ten dollars when i got to highschool. Stopped altogether before i turned 16. I never ate lunch i used to save all my money for the weekends


I don't think allowance spoils you if your parents expect you to use it to provide for yourself. Teaches you to budget your cash. Allowance only spoils you when your parents pay your pockets and then go out and buy everything you ask for on top of that. You have cash and you have material things so your left with no incentive to work.

My parents gave me a certain amount of money every month, but they put it on savings account. It was never for me to spend.

They had me saving for retirement since I was 6.
