How much are producers charging for beats these days?

This is interesting, cause the labels are coughing up less dough for various things but rappers have more money than they ever had. But they are also making a lot more tracks than they ever have. Imagine Big having as many songs as Gucci Mane :wow:

it depends on many factors

such as budget the artist is working with... (major label advance money) or (indy budget)

also the producer has the right to lease or sell the beat outright exclusively to the artist

producers could demand payment up front , or if they are confident in the artist's brand particularly if the artist is superstar or on a major , in many instances they will decline an advance payment and just seek roylties on the backend, by holding on to producer credits once placement on an album is made ..or the song is released as a single

but the most important factor is the relationship between the artist and the producer, most producers price beats relative to personal history with the artist and integrity of business relationship..which is why most beat prices are never made public

As of today it seems like the ones charging the most (in hiphop) are the ones that produce for Rihanna, Beyonce and them..
Benny Blanco, Stargate, Jim Jonsin, The-Dream and of course Skateboard P. Who else could be getting close to those quarter million #s .. I doubt someone like Hitboy, he's not even got a name or a proven record for hit making.

I wonder how those royalty checks are looking though, I remember Dre making 2 million of a Mary J Blige record :wow:.

The D (where it's so cold)
Depends on the producer I guess.

I'd say if you were an upcoming producer with no contacts you could charge about $5,000 if the artist is on a label, maybe 10K if they are on a major. Rappers are thirsty for hits but the budgets aren't what they used to be.

If I was on the come up(Young Chop status) I would sell beats for a G.

Thats mad guap if you think about it.

Sell ya beat to 10 struggle mixtape rappers and you already got yourself 10Gs. While simunteanously getting your name up.

If you good at making beats you could make 10 beats a day b. Thats 10gs a day :whew:

No of course not a no name, but what I meant was a proven track record.
He's signed to Kanye and produce beats with Kanye, under direction from Kanye.
And before that it was Polow da don, but he's clearly on a come up and getting put on by big name dudes.

A lot less than you think unless the producer is very established.
