Maybe a dumb question but something I’ve been wondering.

I mean just looking at it, dudes like AJ, Wilder, Canelo, GGG, etc take less noticeable than their opponent they beat.

I get they still take some obviously I mean it’s boxing. But there seems to be a huge disparity in the amount taken by how good the boxer is.

I wouldn't want to be 1 of those professional sparring dudes. If McGregor can hit Paulie like he did, imagine what real boxers do to sparring partners.

Boxing is a such a sport that when you start taking heavy damage on a regular basis is when you quit. In the amateurs you wear gear which somewhat prevents massive career ending damage that makes most guys quit.

Most pro's don't sar with gear so even greats can get touched up in sparring. It's part of the reason why guys get paid so much (relatively speaking) to spar with the top guys.
