How Much Did Paul George really lose since his injury?

Dude"s game has actually been really disappointing to me. He shoots a ton of jumpshots, does not get to the rack or the freethrow line. He"s a pretty good shooter but definitely not good enough that he can settle for all of those jumpshots.

Playing with another bonafide scorer in Melo actually highlighted it even more because like PG, Melo also had an off shooting night but unlike PG Melo has sweet spots on the floor to get easier shots for himself...i.e. Midpost. PG does not have a go to spot... I saw it during the playoffs and the same thing started happening last night...he can get hot but when his shot stops falling he becomes inefficient and predictable

Why isn't dude KD-lite at least? He's got the length, talent, skillset and athletic ability. Yet offensively he's so far off from KD you can't even compare the 2. Or did he lose more of his explosiveness than we realized?

he isnt kd lite cause he's not the shooter kd is...or ever will be....especially from midrange
he tries to take his queues from kobe but he isnt as good of a difficult shot maker
he settles a lot....and i feel like its cause his first step isnt as explosive :manny:
before the injury he was a lot more slippery on the perimeter....and i dont think he has ptsd toward attacking the rim ...i just think he knows he cant do blowbys consistently anymore

PG had a fantastic recovery from injury.

I think you're overhyping how good he was before he got injured. Kevin Durant was an offensive savant when he came into the league, already had a ton of moves and a sweet shot. If you compared every player's scoring ability on day 1, Durant easily makes the top-10 ever. You're talking a guy who was winning scoring titles with 30+ppg by his third season.

Paul George was a project when he entered the league. He had a lot of potential, but his scoring skills and decision making were still raw in every way. He was a star for his two-way and all-around play, not because he was some great scorer. He got injured in his 5th season, at that point his "career year" was 21.7ppg on mediocre efficiency.

They just ain't comparable. PG13 was nowhere near the scorer that Durant was, ever, and even if he had never gotten hurt it still would have taken him forever to even come close.

PG honestly had one of the best recoveries I’ve ever seen

This is the difference between perception and reality tho.

Bones do a much better job at healing themselves than ligaments and tendons do.

Paul's injury was more visually horrific, but from a recovery standpoint its much easier to return to 100% physically than something like what happened to Tony Parker or Teddy Bridgewater.

This is why Hayward is now having a better prognosis after they saw limited ligament damage and a clean break of the bone.

Now, recovering mentally to have the same willingness to attack the paint and absorb impact, that may return or it may not.

its crazy how you can have your leg broken in half and people wonder why you aint the same

He's gotten his athleticism back...sure he's lost some but it's not like he"s a gimp out there. There"s no reason why he can't mix his game up a little. Is he just gonna get that injury pass for everything he does now? Poor shot selection, tunnel vision, limited footwork, non existent post game?

The great ones reinvent their games when they lose their physical ability by playing a more crafty, cerebral game based on iq.

PG is still talented enough where he can get better

It’s amazing what he is doing right now knowing what happened.. the injury did make him a bit passive going to the rim but it would do that to anyone
