How much does car listening affect the trends in rap music?

I think when music was listened to mostly by youths without cars and in cities with lots of access to public transportation, it was easier to consumer more complex music with simpler production.

Clearly in the south, the car culture and the nature of having sound systems meant you needed a different sort of sound to take advantage of car rides.
