The knicks cap hit over the next two seasons is 26.2m & 27.9m(54m total) with Melo having a player option after next season.If Melo's contract was frontloaded and he received 62m upfront,this means Melo is owed only 11-15 million each of the next two season.Carmelo will definitely opt out next summer.Melo is trying to finesse the knicks for an extra 15-20 million dollars,and get a new 20-25 million dollar per year contract on top of it

Knicks would be stupid to buy him out...pay him an extra 15-20m,plus take a salary cap hit ?....hell no.Let his ass sit on the bench and build around porzingis.
