30 late 20's it just seems ridiculous to try to do it that late in life. Unless your trying to be a manager/producer or anything besides a rapper.

Then again, it's never too late but I wouldn't put all my aspirations in that.

Jay-Z wasn't the youngest when he seriously got into rap and someone like Danny Brown ended up breaking out 27-30 and he has a good following.

If people are feeling your music, they'll listen. :manny:

Em was 27 when SSLP broke, Chuck D was a similar age when PE really broke through. heaps of rappers have been in their late 20s when they come in the game

I know people don't really consider them Hip-Hop, but isn't one of the dudes in LMFAO like 37? Also, Rick Ross didn't hit it big until he was 30.

Like someone else said, it doesn't really matter how late you start in the game.

When you start only matters if you choose to rap about certain things associated with youth (ex. slinging coke, shooting people, etc.).

Go look at MCs like Rakim, Kool G Rap and KRS who are rather old now (well into their 40s) but never fell off lyrically.

I'm not going to say 30 is too old as there were a few rappers who didn't really break out til they were pushing 30. I think Jay was something like 27? And Kanye wasn't super young either.

I feel like if you haven't made it by late 30s or 40, it's time to get a day job.
