How Should I Re-invent Music?

How would you re-invent music?

Funk Rock and Jazz have been attacked from every angle.

Hip Hop has been split into 2 genres. 1 of them is trap. Trap is shallow. Boom Bap is old. So many samples been ran through.

Some try to build bridges between music and natural sound. The ambience of everyday life - the crickets, the wind, cars... natural shyt.

This is in the free jazz and contemporary classical circles.

I dont like that. But I do agree that modern musical forms have been pushed to the edge.


Ive got 20 minutes before the comedown. Should I start with a keyboard or should I start with a sample?

Like shyt...once upon a time I was nervous about releasing house and techno records I made in the early 2000s cause some of my skater bro friends thought it was "gay"...I still put that shyt out.

Just an idea, maybe instead of sampling - try to recreate a melody or rhythm you like and expand in that from there. Just my two cents

You're going to take a risk while making music. Next, you'll hear a voice that will tell you to make it more "normal" or sound less weird.

Ignore that voice and keep pumping out songs.
