Between this and me finding out there's a working Particle Beam Cannon IRL, my sci-fi dreams are coming true.

Yeah, unless somebody figures out FTL travel (which is probably impossible) it's just not happening.

Even at the fastest speeds physically possible it would still take decades/centuries to get to other stars, and those are just the nearby ones.

Once again, just talking TOS, off the top of my head, Those giant earpieces Uhura used to talk to the crew, video calls don't require a gigantic computer, computing in general rather than those big gigantic obelisks we do similar things(auto-pilot, GPS, Communication) with much smaller technology, Our smartwatches don't teleport us but they aren't gigantic and probably do a lot more than theirs did, Alexa/Siri are more advanced that their counterpart, you can rig those to do essentially everything for you these days
