I don't remember much from 2009...was Avatar really a phenomenon like that?

it's funny cuz even tho it's the #1 highest grossing film of all time, it didn't make much of a dent in pop culture. in a weird way, feel like it's a mostly forgotten film in the modern landscape of pop culture

if Marvel, after 20 films of build-up can't beat Avatar, I don't think any film is for a long, long time

Me and my friends who are all super into sci fi and all that discuss this all the time. The movie isnt even good. It looks really good and the 3d in the theater was absolutely breathtaking but still cant fathom people seeing it 3,3,4 plus times in the theater. I dont really remember people talking about it after they saw it.
