How the hell did Kurt Warner win MVP over Michael Strahan/Brian Urlacher in 2001?

The 2001 Rams scored 503 points that season.
503 points now isn't impressive. But in 2001 it was the 4th highest scoring season ever (just behind the 1998 Vikings, the 1999 Rams, and the 1994 49ers)

The record breaking sack by Strahan was bullshyt, but he still had an amazing season. And he would have been a great MVP choice.
I always thought Urlacher was overrated as shyt so even if he was good or whatever...I don't care that he got snubbed.

Led the league in passing yards and touchdowns too with 4800+ and 36 while completing I think over 66% of his passes too. Pretty sure those rams are the only team to score 500+ in three straight seasons, though it wouldn’t shock me if New England did it recently.

Kurt Warner's season was nonsensical considering where he came from too, how he wasn't even in the NFL a few years earlier. It wasn't surprising at all that he won the MVP, but the storyline definitely locked it up for him.

The system. I'm a 9er breh....Greatest Show on Turf had nikkaz running wide the fukk open. Warner still a beast but not a great IMO.

I didn't say he "deserved" it, I just said that it wasn't surprising at all considering what the offense did that year and the storylines behind him. And Warner had a very accurate arm, not just any qb would have succeeded to that degree even in that system.

It actually reminds me a lot of Montana and the West Coast Offense. We treat Montana like a god now, but he wasn't as heralded coming out of school and if he hadn't had the perfect arm and demeanor for Bill Walsh's offense right when it was ready to take over football, he could have easily ended up on some other team and just been an above-average QB instead of an all-time great. But that doesn't mean he doesn't deserve all his MVPs.
