Which news outlet is actually informing its readers about what happened?
2/35

thefluffernutter.bsky.social
Pretty bad that we need to rely on news outlets from other countries to get accurate reporting on the United States.

mcmillen.dev
I've started paying for subscriptions for foreign newspapers for exactly this reason.
Also because happenings in the US aren't *necessarily* newsworthy to people living in other countries so there's more of a relevance filter than "Trump tweeted out some more stupid bullshyt today"

He called them enemies of the people. He has said they should all be shut down and jailed. Heβs called them βfake newsβ for a decade now. His supporters sent them pipe bombs. . .
And in response, they chose to take out their rage on Hillary Clinton, Joe Biden and Kamala Harris.

@nytimes.com Do you have *any* shame whatsoever? How did you miss "β¦spread democracy at the point of a gun"?
We are rooting for our media to speak truth to power, but you are leading the charge into complicity.

AS A MILITARY FAMILY I AM STUNNED BY THIS THE PRESS IS LETTING US DOWN
Donald Trump broke tradition today at West Pointβleaving halfway through commencement and skipping the time-honored handshake with graduating cadets.

Of course he did. He's a pig and he's inappropriate in every way he possibly can be. He deserves no respect, I don't care what office he holds. Trump is a stain on the Oval Office.

The NY Times is little changed over the last 100 years.

Exactly why I cancelled my subscription to the NYT.
11/35

chisto.bsky.social
So did I.
12/35

repeatinghistory25.bsky.social
Just cancelled, my only regret is not doing it sooner.
13/35

my2greatgirls.bsky.social
NYTβs continuing to sane wash this absolute stark raving mad
14/35

pohutukawa.bsky.social
I gave up on the NYT when a recent Daily Podcast was titled, "A Vulnerable China Comes To The Table"
My arse
15/35

mke-voter.bsky.social
That is objectively propaganda, is it not?
16/35

scotasports.bsky.social
The NYT has done some excellent reporting on Trumpβs corruption, crazy tariff approach, etc., and then offers this headline?
17/35

grammacappy.bsky.social
Totally saw this on NYT and I have to admit I was stunned. I kept hearing people talk about it but I never saw it quite to the extent I saw it here because t I saw the speech. Then I saw the headline-WOW . Just wow. No wonder the The Bulwark is now my news source.
18/35

fearisthemindklr.bsky.social
The Bulwark is terrific.

ABC certainly went all out

Iβm never going back the the NYT. Never.
I do miss the puzzles and games though. I donβt know how many years I subscribed but it was most of my adult life. We got the Sunday edition at home.

bestgoshoeless.bsky.social
I have only two regrets:
1) That I was only able to cancel my subscription ONCE
2) That cancelling my subscription didn't make someone in charge step on a Lego

You should hear which clips
@npr.org chose to play on hourly news updates and their description. You would've thought it was an ordinary run-of-the-mill, forgettable speech

Donβt get me started on NPRβs ass-kissing.

I like my local affiliateβs coverage, but the NPR newsfeed is appeaser bullshyt. At least I get BBC news there.
26/35

seamiracles.bsky.social
Same. I'm sick of hearing sanewashed headlines from them.
"Today, at the White House, Trump offered diverse talking points on the economy"
Whaaaat? He had verbal diarrhea.

This week finally sent me over the edge. I cancelled my subscription after spending my entire adult life as a subscriber watching this paper become β¦whatever this is
28/35

markjinla.bsky.social
When you look at a variety of so-called mainstream media itβs astonishing the extent to which theyβve voluntarily bent over for Trump. Even NPR now normalizes most of his BS. The West Point speech was nothing but an insane word salad from an ignorant 3rd grader and The NY Times ought to be ashamed.
29/35

blue-n-al.bsky.social
Did he rush away from West Point to sit by the phone just to have Putin tell him, "I'm just not that into you"

I just unsubscribed from the NYT daily email summary. Thank you.

Had to cancel Twitter. Had to cancel NYT.
Had to cancel WaPo.
Sad to see the βfree pressβ collapsing. Now The Guardian and Bluesky.
32/35

mankitsuu.bsky.social
Except the Guardian is shamelessly transphobic

I was not aware. I will be more discerning in my reading. I will call them out.
34/35

schatzkin.bsky.social
The NYT is now having a daily contest with itself to see how euphemistically prevaricating their reporting on Trump can be
35/35

texasdemstef2.bsky.social
I cancelled my subscription in 2016 for their treatment of Hillary Clinton. Theyβve never improved and Iβve never regretted my decision. Same with wapo. Legacy media is why we are here right now.
