He has a point about people willingly to accept defeat, when you're surrounded by toxic people, an unforgiving and malnourished environment and sparse life enriching opprutunities, ones perception on what can be attainable can seem futile. Even moreso for younger generations who are spoon-fed the flimsy boot-straps "I made it on my own, you can too!" rhetoric that sadly isn't met with much discretion.
