Despite my largely optimistic thinking of how things are "better" these days (or rather it could be worse :lolbron:), I still believe it holds merit that we should remember there were entire PROGRAMMES dedicated to controlling/anticipating our behaviour, and that it isn't quite so crazy to think it may still be being implemented :ohhh:

I know this mostly applies to you US breh(ette)s but as a UK breh I wanna know what you think?

The problem is the brands aren't black decendants of slaves owned. If the money was going into said pockets it be different.

But everyone eats off black people.... especially immigrants. Black people can't get small biz loans which adds to the problem.

This isnt too surprising. A group of people who have been historically denigrated is going to have outlandish spending habits in a capitalist society. It all boils down to a lack of self esteem within ourselves (why we obsess over name brands) and within each other (why we tend to support non black owned businesses in favor over our own).
Also, it is evidently clear that the whole push for integration was for corporations to exploit the growing spending power of blacks. Many of the companies that exist today couldnt have become nearly as powerful without our dollars.

With the advent of major media in the 20s...there were entire programs on how to manipulate and sell to everyone....

Edward Bernays and social psychology is pretty much a blueprint on how to manipulate masses of people...

I mean companies like Nielsan is pretty much a data collection company that sells data to corporations so they know how to manipulate you...
What People Watch, Listen To and Buy | Nielsen

You can't avoid manipulation by institutions...as long as you live in society...

This video is not unique to black people and are all general sales skills. Anyone that has worked a day in their life in sales knows this

Do you really think only black people want quality?

Knowing that other people think highly of the product or the company that made it is social proof, one of the most common and basic sales techniques to exist. Why is apple the richest company when their devices are technically nothing special? Social proof/branding.

Do you think a nonblack person who is a part of dudebro gaming culture would have let you convince them out of buying an xbox360 and halo to get a playstation3 and killzone instead?

Thecoli cant wait to shyt on black people as collective so i already know how this thread will go :francis:

Not all of them. The last one is oddly particular to black people imo. While I agree you should generally stop asking questions once the wallet is out no matter who it is, it can be off putting after somebody has followed you around the store; refused to greet/sell you because you don't look like a dollar sign to them. I think average white people are a little more prone to be like "eh, fukk it! throw it in the bag." or "ohh, what thaaaat???". Meanwhile your average black person goes into a store with a vision. But like you said, that video is all pretty general stuff. The most important thing is confidence but hey who am i? lol.
