I need some serious advice brehs

One of my flaws and barriers in life is my ego. I do whatever it takes subconsciously to protect it and not feel funny.

It's hampering me enjoying my life to the fullest and I feel it's the next step in my progression I've been going through this past year.

So brehs how do I stop being bytch made for a lack of better terms and let go of ego?

Get somewhere quiet, close your eyes, take a deep breath or two.

Now with your eyes closed, ask yourself silently, "where is my next thought coming from".

What will happen is there will be a silence, a space while your brain does it's 'google' search for an appropriate answer. The brain doesn't have an answer on tap for that sort of question so it will stall out for a couple of seconds. That is what peace feels like...the ego does not exist in that space. Now that you know what it feels like try and find that spot more often.

Beyond that, make an effort to pull your energy out of your head and more into your naval reigon. You can do this with meditation, dancing or any kinds of exercise that pulls your awareness toward your mid-section. nikkas overrate the power and application of the LITTLE brain in the head. The BIG brain in your stomach is has more control over your day to day perception and experience of life I find.

The little brain is more concerned with looking for and maintaining patterns (habits) even if they are destructive. Big brain is where your wisdom is, without getting way too complicated. Get out of your head and back into your body in whatever way is attractive to you.

Bhuddism deals with this extensively as well as some occultism . Google and YouTube have a lot of teachings on losing your ego as a start

The question I go round in circles on is whether my ego is a good or bad thing - an ego trip :scheme:

I spoke with someone on here recently on how vital the ego is and how a lot of people who are into spirituality erroneously have a negative perception of the ego or even make effort to 'kill' it.

The ego is an important part of your mental anatomy...now some nikkas ego's be trippin, word to De La. But it's still vital to your existence and WILL fight for it's life. Even the most 'spiritual' guru you can name who claims to have dissolved the ego...still has an ego, an ego that consists of a muthafukka who thinks he's so far out that he is now ego-less, that in and of itself is just another image.

You understand Hip Hop culture...Hip Hoppas don't kill their ego, they create healthy egos. They initiate themselves, create names, personas to be a sheath for their creativity, their light, their love. The ego is there to give the god within texture. Not navigate life's problems. When we expect the self image (who we THINK we are) we often get into trying to force an ego death.

Much better to create a healthy ego that is aligned with your hearts desires. You want to be a teacher, yes? A guide..a way shower...you have wisdom to impart to people? If you begin to create a self image that is congruent with what you really want out of life, the ego will get out of your way and serve it's original purpose.

So at least in my opinion...the ego is a good thing when used correctly. It's not the application to use to solve problems with...it's just what some what call flavor, or what gives you as consciousness, a unique texture. But we spend so much time in our heads, acting and re-acting from the ego, which is really just our self image that is constructed from our memories and experiences. Who and what you are is often going to be something completely different than who or what you THINK you should be. If you can get those two aspects of self on the same page, you're golden. If you try to navigate life through the ego you'll be living in falsehood and will probably be uncomfortable in a multitude of ways.

Tangibles
expose what you're trying to protect by going against the grain of your ego

...do the opposite and allow yourself to be vulnerable even if its for little things

and then work your way up

I've recently done this. My ego would never let me reach out for help with my depression. Along with be in depressed I had a massive ego so I got in a lot of trouble just because of the way I came across. When I reached out for help that went against everything my ego said. So just do the opposite of what you've always been doing. Go against the grain and it will be uncomfortable at first but it's liberating and your ego no longer controls you.

The problem with all that new age westwrn spirituality stuff posted before. Is that most people go into it for their ego and completely miss the whole point of it. So what you think is helping you is just feeding your ego even more. I did all that stuff for years.

I like to remind myself what happens on Earth stays on Earth. Yeah it's from the Kendrick album :youngsabo: Nothing in this life carries over to the next one when you leave Earth, including your ego. Just say fukk it and get over yourself and don't do anything to hurt people who care about you. Because in the end none of this matters, you can only do your best. Your ego will prevent you from realizing that.

(Also don't confuse ego with self confidence. Be confident about yourself but stay humble and grounded)

It's because your insecure. Insecure people protect their ego at all cost. It's the difference between Nicki Minaj and KD attacking random fans on Twitter and Jay & Bey saying nothing when the world shyts on them. When you stop being insecure and find something that inspires self esteem and self confidence (a job, a company, a talent, getting in the gym) it goes away and as someone who started a company and has lost 60 lbs in the past two years it works. I don't even browse the Coli with the same views I used to have anymore.
