You need cash in Europe. Card transactions are not as encouraged/prevalent.

If you aren't shopping or spending money in large amounts it seems easier to just use cash over there. But they have too many damn coins. 1 cent, 2 cent, 5 cent, 10 cent, 20 cent, 50 cent, 1 euro/pound, 2 euro/pound, etc. Ish be weighing my pockets down.

Yeah. It's a hassle. I ended up with like 60 euro in coins when I returned but that's just the way it is.

You don't, you use your credit card.

Most credit cards don't have foreign exchange fees. My card Capital One Venture gives me the best conversion rate for the day.

But you do need some walking around money though. I think you can change some money at the airport.
