Finally getting to a point in life where I have more assets than debt and I want to write a living will. My only issue is I don't know where to leave the money and two properties (I inherited a house). Im unmarried with no kids and I don't have siblings.

I'm afraid to leave the money with extended family because it will tear them apart. Would it be selfish to donate all my assets to charity. I was considering the boys and girls club.

How will leaving money tear the family apart? It would be an inherited gift.

I personally wouldn’t give my wealth to a charity and wouldn’t care after I’m dead what someone did with the money I left. I can only hope they do what’s best for them.

A charity that can be trusted? Yes. There are some charities and some chapters of legit charities that are crooked. I'd do my research.

^^Leaving money can absolutely tear a family apart. I've seen it, myself. You'd be surprised how selfish and entitled people can act around death. One family was hauling goods out the house, before they could remove the man's body from it! They were taking things that didn't even belong to him. Then, you have another that fell apart and still divided, because people didn't like how the money retirement and insurance $$ was divvied up, despite none of them being entitled to it. People can be trash. I do agree, though, I'd give it to family before anything or set it up to pay for education(for assets to be sold off to set up a trust). That would be the best bet and less likely to end up being squandered, with certain stipulations for receiving it (g.p.a., accreditation, whatever). You'd have to set it up with a lawyer, though.
