If they aren't giving any opportunities, why complain on how the next man gets their bread? Maybe if every major rap artist didn't use the same 5-6 fukking producers we wouldn't have to resort to making Type Beats online. You can go on YouTube right now and find videos of artists listening to beats sent from fans and they'll pass on a beat that's actually hella dope, then you listen to their music and hear them use a trash ass beat only cause it has a 808 Mafia or Metro Boomin tag on it

imo type beats have always been around

dj premier type beats and pete rock type beats were a thing in the past

i'd say Lex Luger is one of the main guys that changed things during that time he was popping , everyone wanted a lex type beat or wanted to make one , lex made good beats but he made it look easy and people evolved that sound

i do believe making a certain type of beat helps to improve your style tho , i've seen it

also, like the video said, asap rocky was looking for a type beat and found what he was looking for , soo many people have done this, joey badass and chief keef type in their names on youtube and type beat and found these gems

At this point southside and metro are lucky they're in the position they're in. They can sell beats just off their tags. Truthfully all producers have omnisphere 2, nexus and all those VST's now. I can listen to random beats on YouTube and SoundCloud that sound the exact same as theirs.

i think the kanye/dmx comparison might be a false equivalency, cause kanye prolly knew dmx and the sound he was going for on his next project. he prolly wasn't gonna give him some shyt that sounded like idahih when insiders get the beta versions of an artist's new work before we even get an announcement that a new album is coming.

still that line is what industry cacs like to use to justify stealing from artists.

i belive 'Panda' was a type beat. its unoriginal if your copying another producer but if 'this MC type beat' helps you link with like minded artists cant knock it honestly

I think the comparison was saying how producers like Kanye make beats with a specific artist in mind but don’t label it a “type beat”, but it’s basically the same thing. Only difference is one producer has the connections to get their beats to said artist so they don’t have to resort to YouTube
