I understand people don't fukk with how these young dudes dressing and acting weird nowdays because I don't fukk with it either, but listen to that Rakim track...he may be a legend but he aint saying shyt just like most of these other rappers. The new hiphop that we have now really aint that much different from 80s/90s hiphop. It's actually better..subject matters just changed for the worse

When I Be On The Mic is an MC bragging track, you wouldn't expect any subject matter beyond "I'm the best MC and you suck". There's fukkloads of rappers that have limited subject matter but what matters is the music itself. Redman never had a huge variety of subject matter but he made some classic fukkin albums. But he also actually SPIT on his songs and albums I don't recall any songs where he aimlessly rambles on about nothing and that's the kind of shyt I hear from the Futures and Cheif Keefs of the world. The whole song sounds like a hook that never ends.
