will people be nostalgic about the 2000's the same way they are about the 90's or the 80's? was 9/11 the defining fukking thing about the 2000's?

I came of age in the 2000's so I really should be nostalgic about it, but for the most part I have nothing but scorn for the decade. a lot of things went to shyt then. I really do think the 90's was the last great decade

The whole world being on social media/attention whoring has destroyed all future nostalgia, we're living in a "fast food" environment. Nothing lasts anymore, everything is forgotten in seconds.

IT"S OVER man, PLEASE stop posting these repetitive ridiculous stupid threads when you know the answer to your dumb question. :manny:

they're doing that now, i bet kids born in the 2000s think the 90s was the best shyt ever...and it was :wow:

There is no nostalgia anymore, it's over fool. I watched "VH1's I love the 2000s" series and it was very depressing, just UTTER CRAP. :yeshrug:

We are living in a "live for the moment world" with all the instagram crap etc... Leave it alone dude, leave it alone.

Which is funny cause they never experienced it all....

What happened in the 2000s but chaos? We couldn't even enjoy anything properly because life/society was just too depressing. Even other eras had a lot of things that properly defined those times.

The only cool thing that happened in the 2000s was that tech got a lot better, that's the only thing we have to hold on to now, everything else is DEAD.

I agree.

9/11, three wars in the middle east, a recession, hurricane katrina, the tsunami back in 2004...

I feel like we left the 90s being really optimistic about the future and come 2001 (the start of the 21st century) that optimism slowly but surely was shut down by reality.

It's difficult to summarize:

Bush stealing the Presidency
9/11
The Afghanistan/Iraq War
The erosion of privacy
The rise of social media
Hurricane Katrina
The economic collapse
Government spying
The 1st Black President
Obamacare

From an entertainment perspective it's harder to say because it's a matter of personal preference.

I think the 2010s will be remembered as the Police State years. Continued invasion of privacy...militant cops killing blacks and minorities....

Whoa...the 2000's were absolute trash when you take that summary into account.

There's really not a lot that I long for from the early 2000s except that I wish I could be in my early 20s again.

I'm almost 35 and I really miss the mid-1990s more than anything. Maybe that's because when you're 14-19 those are major formative years, but that's just how it is.
