How would things have played out if Magic Johnson never caught HIV?

How would his legacy as a player have changed? He left a lot of good years on the table.

How would he have developed as a business man?

What happens to the lakers? Do they still get Shaq? Still get Kobe?

How would he be perceived today?

Sounds weird, but imo catching HIV has made magic more loveable famous and iconic.

Magic is the GOAT imo, but a lot of y'all dont give him his props.

Goat or at least top3 in everybody's list.
Bulls/Lakers would have been a rivalry.

Lakers with a healthy Worthy and Scott would have beat the bulls at least once.

He would have end up as the #1 in assist, but i think he would have retired before the Shaq and Kobe era.

My man came back for a quick stint in 96 and stunt all over the best bulls team ever :wow:

Its a shame :mjcry:

worthy and scott got hurt (james was injury prone from 91 on) assuming that continued and the lakers didn't get barkley they're a first or second round exit for the next 3-4 years until magic retires for real after the 95-96 season

He would have probably retired around the same time Bird did...which is 1992, roughly 2 years after he first announced it. I don't see him playing past 1994.
So I don't think much would have changed.

MJ would have still did what he did because he was on the incline. Magic wouldn't have won anymore championships, MVPs or anything of that nature because it was simply too late in his career. The Lakers dynasty was well over by then, and the BUlls were basically unstoppable with MJ and Pip

By then Magic would have had about 13+ years in the league...and that was pretty normal for elite players back then.

He may have ended up stat padding though, and climbing higher on lists in certain categories.
