How yall deal with family members asking for money?

ie Cousin ask you to hold 100$ to do laundry promising to pay you back(2 days after you give them 40). You say “i have a washer/dryer at my house, you can come do laundry “.

then they hit you back with: “theres other clothes i have to wash. but i can manage. Nvm.”


I dont get it. Thought you needed todo laundry?

If you don't feel comfortable giving then state clearly and in a firm tone you're not going to give them anything. And if you know for a fact the family member won't ever be good on paying you back tell them that honestly. Don't let people guilt you into giving away your money by saying ya'll are friends/family.

Depends on the person. Bailed out a friend I've known all my life and they haven't paid me back yet (never again). Had a coworker hmu for $ and I immediately said no. If it's family I'll pay it and not ask for it back if it's a necessity

Well, now I would say the only thing left is to mentally detach from that situation. No use in letting it drain you mentally. Once you're content with everything you read in this thread. I would take a quick 5 to 10-minute break, breathe in slowly, hold your breathe for 5 seconds and then breathe out slowly do this repetitively for however long you decide. If you decide to do this breathe exercise try to focus on your breathing and fill your lung with as much air but in a slow manner then hold and then release slowly. Calm your nerves, release any of that stress and tension this person caused you, and then focus your attention on something you like or something more important. Don't let this person rob you of peace of mind since they couldn't snatch your dough. Don't allow your mind to be fixed on this petty situation.

You saw through the facade and even invited the person over to your home and offered them to use your washer and dryer. This person couldn't guilt trip you face to face. So don't let them drain you mentally.

By loaning money you lose the loot and the friend so just gift it if you can afford it and if not tell them them the only thing you feel when reaching into your pockets is leg.

That and a lot of people are professional moochers that roll up strapped with a sad song playing violin when they see you glistening.

Quite parasitic so know the ledge and move accordingly.
