But a group of us black men are trying to bring baseball back to The Mecca. It’s been 6 years since baseball has been at Howard and we are trying to get it going from the ground up.

If y’all ever been to an HBCU y’all know how admin is about helping it’s student body, it’s been a “if you want it then make it happen” type of energy we’ve been receiving

if they hit their $8,500 goal what is the money going to or is that literally all they need to bring it back to the school?

the money is going toward equipment, uniforms and travel. Also, there is a baseball field directly across from Howard but it’s not owned by the university and you literally have to rent out the field or get a permit. We want to use that field to hold our practices and in the future our games.

Right now we’re at the club level (we can play whoever we want but it won’t count towards standings or anything), but in the future we want to get back the MEAC Division-I level. For example, Howard’s golf team started at the club level, but steph curry put money and resources behind them and they just won their MEAC championship tournament

We’ve been holding our practices at softball fields and public parks. (brentwood-hamilton if you’re familiar with the D.C. area.)
