However, when it comes to overall music consumption in the US - even with the success of Swift and the massive successes of country music....

Most of that rap, rock and country is technically pop music.

Rap is the dominant form of pop atm.
To bring it even further a lot of the most popular country music is highly rap influenced along the lines of Morgan Wallen as is a good amount of Afrobeats, Latin music and even K-Pop.
The whole idea that “hip hop is dead” on this site stems largely from the fact that people no longer give a shyt about 90s acts and Lil Baby cancelled a few shows in minor markets after selling out arenas for two years straight in one of the most profitable touring runs in hip hop history.

Yup. More people rapping than ever.

Not saying they’re doing it well or a part of our culture. But they’re rapping.

I’ve been on new age kick recently and it feels a lot like the late 70s/early 80s minus the originality of what those artists were doing.

A (weirdly) large amount of country fans still purchase physical CDs and don't stream as much music as other genre fans do. I don't know if it's due to older demographics or just country people wanting to throw a CD in the Ford F-150 while driving around.

Streaming is such a dominant form of listening to music amongst younger people that it's not surprising the most popular genre for young people dominates on there. I don't see that changing anytime soon in the US. On the flip side demographically...I wonder what percentage of that 19.9% rock music consumption is rock music from at least 20+ years ago. I can't name a single relevant, new rock band today.

Even the Mexicans have finally learned about putting in the HipHop influence in a creative way
