Huey P. Newton Gun Club steeping up in Dallas

The unrest in Ferguson is shining a bright light on police in Missouri and all around the nation. Now, a gun group from North Texas is taking their message to the streets of Dallas on Wednesday. The event is organized by the Huey P. Newton Gun Club.

Huey P. Newton was one of the two people who founded the Black Panther party in the 1960s. Organizers said that the group includes people who have lost faith in police. The goal is to raise awareness about police brutality.

The group plans to walk along the sidewalk on MLK Boulevard, in what is being referred to as an “armed self-defense patrol.” A spokesperson for the gun group said that the event would be similar to an open carry rally. But a press release detailing the event said, “The people who are gunned down and murdered by violent and militarized police forces have formed the Huey P. Newton Gun Club for the specific purpose of self-defense and community policing.”

not sure what these brothers are about but if they inspired by and live by the principles an honorable black leader like Huey P.their is potential there....personally i think we need black militias/gun clubs in every major city with significant black population not just to protect the community from the racist and abusive cops but the enemies from within(gangs,dope dealers,thugs whom prey on their own people in general)

Why does it take major events like Ferguson for this to even happen? Should've been doing this all along even relations with the police were peachy keen. This lets me know that this group will probably disband after the media attention dies down. Black people have short memories.
