I read a piece about this same topic in the NYT around a week before the election.

A large part of this shift is the abundance of "dude bro/self-improvement" podcasts that started popping around 2020, with them taking heavy influence from the O.G. dude bro podcast "The Joe Rogan Experience."

When it comes to capturing the attention and support of America's (white, mostly) youth, conservatives have been on a tear since 2018.

It started with viral clips from "debates" where professional conservatives like Ben Shapiro would go on conservative think tank-funded tours of different college campuses to preach right wing talking points for 45 minutes and then "own" a bunch of poorly-prepared 19 year olds during the closing Q&A sessions.

The juxtaposition of conservative debaters like Shapiro, representing the right while being calm, measured, and composed while the college kids he debated typically wound up being walking stereotypes of left-wingers/progressives (emotional, loud, being gender nonconforming, feminine) played a massive role in convincing many young men during that time that "real men" are conservative.

One of the progressive left's major problems is the lack of having a masculine image.

I recently watched a Jubilee video where they had a large group of conservative and progressive men debate each other, and literally all but a few of the progressive men had soft voices, looked weak, and sounded feminine. Meanwhile, a number of the conservative men looked like they lift weights, seemed less nervous, and came across as more "manly".

In short, I think the progressive left needs to seriously start leaning into performative masculinity over the next few years. It not only appeals to younger male voters, but female voters overall as well.

The "Daddy Trump" thing may be funny, but a lot of his supporters subconsciously view him that way :francis:

Unfortunately the propaganda that’s been pushed over the last few years is all Democrats are septum ring wearing, gender fluid, pink haired, gay rights tear down the patriarchy types which clearly will repel most normal men.

Combine that with the cancel everyone for everything that was prevalent as well. Democrats have to basically rebuild their reputation and start showing some teeth.

Exactly, the Dems need a shyt-talking, charismatic Bill Burr-style dude (Black or White) who appeals to the working class yet can push for progressive policies without coming across as "soft" or a nerd.

Establishment dems still think these are the days where you can run somebody who speaks like a hedge fund manager and has the charisma of a wet sock.

Despite the level of racism and shameless ignorance contained within the average voter that the recent elected showed, it also cemented the fact that many people just vote for candidates based on "vibes" alone.

Have to go the populist route imo. Focus HEAVY on legalizing marijuana because everyone loves weed. Focus HEAVY on raising the minimum wage and other pro worker initiatives. No talk of gays or women's birth rights on the forefront.

Get played, manipulated and used by republicans & conservatives :hula: get castigated and become an afterthought by liberals & democrats

No matter what God young men believe in and pray to they will still need to do the work themselves...

we'll see how long it lasts

we're about to witness a republican president bury US global standing and put us into recession, maybe even depression lol
It'll last. It'll morph into something else but it will last.

Because the only other option they have is:

The average person can give a fukk about abortion. The average person can give a fukk about gays/trannys and are actually repulsed by the proliferation of it in media. The average person is annoyed by the pronoun gang that’s been shoved down people throats for the last several years. The average person is tired of cancel culture.

When you list these things out it’s easy to see how MAGA and republicans were able to capture the attention of millions and mobilize. Simply because by sheer numbers nobody wants to hear about that crap. Meanwhile across the isle that’s what Democrats stood on. Losing votes as the years wore on. Even from people that MIGHT be empathetic to those issues.

It’s ironic because the groups I just listed used to be ostracized from society. Now, the tables have turned and being a straight regular person you get ostracized. Which builds resentment and hate towards their sympathizers.

Democrats dug a deep ass hole that they might not be able to get out of for the foreseeable future.

Again, we lose credibility on shyt like trans issues. We can’t figure out what men and women are and want to be taken seriously by people who are gullible enough to fall into religious traps :snoop:

Right. You only need a few margin points and you’ve got a full control of government.
