@Sentdex
We've had robots fighting as a live spectator sport since the early 2000s at scale and no one questioned the moral implications.
But when you make the robots humanoids, people start to take issue.
There's something interesting there.

@REKrobot
Morality is for meatbags

@thoughtlesslabs
We are a pattern matching bag of biology and when something looks like us or shares traits we've deemed cute we feel for it. When it looks like a roomba we dont care

Bro you gots rep da REK @REKrobot

@tadasged6
I wanna see robot with gpt-5 vs robot with Claude-4 in a battle!

@ShelbyExchange
It’s called the uncanny valley…

@PhilHKG
So they’d prefer to watch a robot fight a person?
If the robot gets to fight them then I’ll pay to watch.

@codewithimanshu
Our comfort with violence seems tied to the perceived humanity of the victim. That's a disturbing reflection on us, isn't it?
9/25
@Harryoc493
No. I want them to have guns and lightsabers and chain saws and flame throwers and explosives and karate and tear limbs off
Boxing is boring
@cixliv

@ptdamiba
Wait til they start fighting humans
11/25
@Voodoo319E
If they were dog like they'd be banned immediately
12/25
@OrmosBen
It reminded me of exactly this! Also seeing these humanoids with flamethrowers, just wow.

@MatthewEmmons7
Skynet in Indonesia is right around the corner.

@aughtdev
It's an uncanny valley for robots. Nobody had a problem with the "Real Steel" movie but humanoid with jerky robotic movement is just weird to watch. The problem is that they're not humanoid enough
15/25
@FlorianBansac
I so much want to see matrix-style squid robots fights!
16/25
@k7agar
the interesting thing is that people are retarded
17/25
@itsjustmarky
I’ve wanted to get some robots and start a YouTube Robot Boxing channel.

@KinvertOG
Original battlebots man. I wish we could give our kids the world we inherited. I hope to have enough land my grandkids can avoid the wirehead dystopia society seems hell bent on creating. And I'll have home brewed "jail broke" robots.
19/25
@vtomnet
interesting, I haven’t seen the argument against humanoid robot fighting. The main difference I see is that battlebots are not autonomous, and humanoid robots are, correct? Is that the distinction that matters to those people?

@zhiqiangarch
Always more beautiful in distance
21/25
@_____Lightning
It was a niche thing for hobbyists who were passionate about robotics and they were fighting other robots. Huge issue when robots fight humans imo
22/25
@transcriblo
Fascinating how human-like features trigger different reactions.
23/25
@PeoplesGrocers
Well seeing the humanoid boxing robots it's immediately obvious they are going to make people fight these robots.
Do you want to be grabbed off the street for some Squid Games 2.0 type shyt to grapple with a 300lb robot for your life while Bezos cheers from his box?
24/25
@oblockheedm
Battle bots games are different than in home AI based human programmed tech that military is blackmailed into using.

@nasionie
Hmmm? You know… You know what I’ve noticed? Nobody panics when robot carnage goes “according to plan.” Even if the plan is horrifying! If, tomorrow, I tell the press that, like, a buzz-saw bot will get shredded, or a truckload of battle drones will be blown up, nobody panics, because it’s all “part of the plan.” But when I say that one clumsy little humanoid throws a crooked punch, well then everyone loses their minds.
