I understand why they wanted the delay but starting in September would have been a terrible idea politically. The President campaigning for re-election while his son is on trial during the most important months of the election cycle (September, October) is terrible optics. The news media would have been all over that.

The only thing that would have offset that is Trump being on trial for the January 6th case at the same exact time.
