Chiefs safety Husain Abdullah retiring, citing concussions
Another NFL player is retiring when he seemingly has some football left in him, citing his health as a priority.
Veteran safety Husain Abdullah announced this morning on his Instagram page that he’s hanging it up after seven seasons.
The Chiefs free agent thanked his teams (he started as an undrafted free agent with the Vikings), but said there were “numerous deciding factors in my decision, with personal health being foremost.”
“Sitting for five weeks last year after suffering the fifth concussion of my career, I had a lot to contemplate,” he wrote. “My goals moving forward are to be of benefit to my family, my community, my country and hopefully the world. Having a sound mind will be vital in accomplishing these goals.”
