Sometimes I swear I dont understand the mentality of Record Companies. To release a record first for Free and then wait weeks once clearance is set to have for sell. By then everyone already has the record, its old, and who the hell wants to buy the record then.. Then again the age of selling music is dying. Anyway my 2 cents

Yeah I was thinking about this the other day. Indie artists do it too though I don't get it

Records don't sell like that anyway.

They release it for free they generate a buzz for their tour. Then hardcore fans can go back and support by buying the album if they want to.

Makes sense in the current climate.

The record companies Are allowing these "LISTEN TO THIS STREAM" previews in AD SUPPORTED sites. .....,and have licenscing deals already in place

they Are getting Revenue...unfortunatly most artist doesnt See revenue until mechanical royalties Are generated from Digital Downloads and physical retail sales

so dont feel bad for these MAJOR LABELS

Also in order for a song to generate any type of revenue streaming it thru ads or any other way the song must be cleared and the splits be agreed on with rap this is why a song will come out and literally 2 months later an iTunes date will be announced it takes a label about 3 weeks to get a record approved on iTunes and that's if everything is smooth
