:dead: I’m thirty fukking one and I barely remember the 90s except the tv shows, some childhood events and the fact that everything look “hazy” and the color saturation was different, like on tv lol.

Baby millennials weren’t old enough to really immerse ourselves in the culture like that. And older Gen Z was still shytting they pants when that decade came to an end. Our childhoods and coming of age years were the 2000s/10s.

Baby millennials need to stop this bullshyt :russ: let the :flabbynsick: Millennials and Gen X have they shine.
I'm 36 and I barely remember it. The earliest memory I have starts at 4 years old, which, I was born in June, so that could be in either '93 or '94. The memory of my mom forcing me to eat lasagna, which i still hate to this day 🤣

Every year after 4 years old, I remember a little more each year. I don't remember what most of my teachers looked like or their names, I was 10 at the end of the decade and I can only remember three teachers by face and two by name.

(Sidenote at work a couple years ago, some people were talking, both younger and older than me, and saying they remembered most and all of the teachers they had in school. I only remember like 7 of my teachers from 6th thru 11th grade by face, and only 4 of them by name. I don't have a ton of memories of school and people tell me that's unusual).

When young cats try to gas up eras they weren't really around for its always pissed me off. Cats who weren't old enough to do shyt in the 90s are too young for that era. I grew up in the 00s, 10 on 1/1/00, 20 on 12/31/09, thats my era.

From what I do recall about the 90s, it was fine, but I've never been enthralled with the era the way a lot of people are. Black TV stands out as kind of its golden era, I can remember that. The rest of it, i do think the fashion was objectively better than 00s fashion but I'm not all wild for it. The music is hit or miss, there was a lot of good music but nikkas OD on a lot of mid music from that era, it wasn't all elite. Nickelodeon kids and teeny bopper shows were dope.

Other than that, its just another era to me. My young adulthood of my 20s and 30s was 2010s/2020s, I feel more strongly for these eras than the 90s when I was a young kid.

I do value my teens era of the 00s though 😆

The 90s sucked that’s why the art was so good.

I was there.

Graduated high school in 96.

Don’t let these folks lie to you.

People were very mean, we had brown weed with seeds and sticks, we drank malt liquor like water, and Taco Bell was a foreign delicacy.

I was 15 in 1990.

Went college in 93. Was semi famous in my college town for rapping.

I did the shyt out of the 90s.
There were Hella problems in the 90's no doubt, nothing was perfect. But you seemingly could have a reasonable life with reasonable effort. Culture had delineation and wasn't as commodified.

We had the peak of everything, sports, music, movies, fashion, etc.

Everything was fire, even reality tv was avant garde verse compared to today those real worlds back then was crazy.

And even though we was going through the crack era and mass incarceration it felt like black people were making progress and we were breaking down barriers

We got to see both MJ’s, Tyson, Pac, Biggie, Denzel, fresh prince, Martin, Bet, million man march, both bulls three peats, Yankees dynasty, home run chases, cowboys, niners, the wild oj trial, xfiles, the matrix, Super Nintendo, sega genesis, PlayStation nikka, Tonya Harding getting her knee blew by a crazy cacette, the president getting sucked off in the Oval Office, nikka Pokémon and DBZ

Plus We even had the best balance of the internet where we could look up anything and be connected without it taking over our lives and we were still outside.

We will never see nothing like that decade again. shyt don’t even seem real now. And we actually knew how dope the shyt was in the moment.
Good post.
But it was Nancy Kerrigan that got her knee bashed. Tonya Harding was accused of ordering it.

Hip hop felt like it was MY music. White people still had rock and alternative shyt. Hard to explain, it wasn't huge, they weren't doing stadium tours all over the country like that. You could go see Wu Tang, Nas, Biggie at local spots all over the city. Your album going gold was considered a success. I remember buying Illmatic in the bargain bin at Tower Records and still debating it because it only had 10 tracks lol.

Arcades were lit, nothing beats playing someone right next to you with a whole crowd watching and waiting to play.
