I always thought Nas' "I Can" was under appreciated

Nas had the potential and creativity to do this much better and more quality wise, that's my issue with it.
respect opinions and other's fans review regardless.

He had to make it palatable for kids, thats really the main demographic that holds it in high regards(kids of that generation 2002-06).

What other rapper has a positive song hit top 20 talking about black history? I give it props for that alone

Yeah, I see it as his version of "Hey Young World". His flow is even similar on this.

It was.

He didn't have to make that song and probably caught flack from his team for that song .

But he did it for the children and the song had an effect on my life..I have fond memories of that song and I'm 33...it cam out when I was about 12.

I learned about Alexander the great (say what you will but reading about him and his battles was some awe inspiring shyt as a pre teen).

African Kings and Queens before Europeans came to colonize the continent.

"We were Kings and Queens never porch monkeys" :wow:

"Shot off they nose to impose what basically still goes on today you see"

My dad explained the lyrics to me ...and trust for pops to do that showed patience:pachaha:

Brehs may have to catch a neg for disrespecting this song :ahh:

Slick Rick influence very clear on this one

Only track on God's Son I usually skip but it was targeted at 8-12 year old kids. Dudes saying it's corny missing the point, the song ain't geared toward you. At that point in time it was unheard of for a positive song aimed at young Black kids to get mainstream radio play and video rotation, deserves credit for that alone
