I always wonder what inspired old school artists to make such iconic and energetic music

This music is imbued with so much love and excitement. Something rarely captivated today.








There is such a huge contrast in energy when you compare it with our music today

Even the slower joints had positive vibes to them







It seems like so much of our music is so melodramatic and just energy depleting. More fundamentally it lacks soul


How did this happen? I know sounds change over time but why is the energy now polar opposite from how it was back then.
