I am a proud African. Moving to Canada and being seen as Black was a culture shock.

i see some black immigrants still got a hard time understanding that living in the western part of the world, especially north america, is a very "black and white" type of situation - - that tribal/ethnic shyt really don't matter out here for the most part when it comes to black folk lol
lol OP is funny. in most countries in sub saharan africa...everybody is black. you can visit Accra for a month and go the whole month without seeing a white person.
why would they identify by color? because the race is homogenous the only way to mentally divide is by tribe. even Carribeans I know get shell shocked upon facing racism in Canada. On a flipside, you wouldnt hear South Africans talk like this because the white population is large and economically dominant.

Let them be, and in turn expect them to let us be. That is how I see it. They come from a different culture than ours. We should not be speaking on them like we are experts of their cultural and historical experience (well unless we actually have a PhD on the subject) and in turn they should not be speaking about us like they are of ours.
Funny they can pick up that Black Americans are all thugs, gang bangers, pimps, and hoes from television and movies but somehow miss the glaring racial dynamics of the so called Western world.
