1. You can be a jack of all trades or a master of one. Choose one. You want to know everything to look and sound like you are smart? Then, you can only go so deep in terms of conversation. You want to go balls deep on the complexities on a specific subject, that's good. You become a subject matter expert to the point where you can point out false claims. If you are a jack of all trades, you can't always refute certain claims because you just don't know because you are trying to learn so much. For example, do you want to be a jack of all trades when it comes to basketball, high school, college, pro, International, Olympics, or do you want to be a subject matter expert of just University of Kentucky basketball? Do you want to know everything about history of the world between 1800 and 1900 or just focus on the history of Europe between 1800 and 1840.
Maybe you are dumb. Just read up on local news on one of your local news websites. Read about national and local news events.
