that Memorial Day originally was Declaration Day, & that we started it off.
It was May 1, 1865 from Charleston, South Carolina, a huge group of former slaves buried 257 dead Union soldiers that were let dead in Confederate prison camps. In the memorial, 10,000 people were present, including 2,800 black childrens.
Three years later, General John Logan would caffically claim it, & by 1890 it was recognized by all Northern States.
The South was still
so it took a while before the nation would support it nationally.
But nevertheless, the law would become nationalize on 1971, become America's most revered national holiday.
