First of all, its almost nearly the same exact concept as FO3. You wake up in the vault, and then chase after a loved one who left the vault before you. To find that person you have useless filler and fetch quest after fetch quest - go to this city, help this guy so he can help you, talk to this guy, get this item. almost none of this stuff really matters for the overaching main quest, its just filler. the ending is basically just destroy the other faction. at least fo3 had a purpose, get water for the wasteland.

its like they put zero effort in these past 8 years to give us a compelling story. for a single player game its :scust:

The story is trash, I agree :trash:

And the locations are mainly dungeons where you just kill shyt. They're nowhere near as exciting as fallout 3, nv, oblivion, or skyrim.

Even the side quests kinda suck (except for a few). I got like 5 more side quests to beat, and then this is going by the wayside until the, hopefully good, dlc (I already bought the season pass :yeshrug:)

This game is like an 8.25/10. It's my biggest disappointment of the year. I expected skyrim levels. I coulda sworn it was gonna be a 10/10 game. I still enjoyed it, but I expected so much more.

And I hate the settlement building they put in the game. Didn't even build one settlement in my 60+ hours with the game :heh:

this game is good for people who are really creative and like creating their own worlds. but for those of us too lazy for that or who dont have that creativity, the devs didnt really make a world for us

They should have stopped being lazy and got a whole new art direction for the game. They should be ashamed to release this trash

I've never seen fallout games as having a good story.

The lore is interesting, but the actual story you play through has always been simple.

The tone of the games have always been kinda silly, so I don't look for them to tell some compelling emotional story.

I just like being in the world fukking shyt up and exploring and finding new shyt:manny:

This. The most interesting thing about these games have always been discovering towns and vaults, finding out what happened to people and how they coped with the situation

Yup. The best storytelling / writing in the Fallout series has actually come in the terminals, building setups, skeleton placement, etc. The "environmental" storytelling has always been better than the "main" story. The continual buildup of the environmental "lore" far surpasses the main quest story.

I don't think Fallout 4 "main" storytelling is bad as much as people realizing it's been the same structure for 3 straight games and wasn't that great to begin with. (Interact with important person in opening scene [father(F3) or shooter(NV/F4)], that person leaves with mystery, get clues to find person in main city, find person and get story to unfold, go on shallow mission branches til the end.)

First time you do this F3 it's :gladbron:, second time you do this in NV it's :jbhmm:, third time you do this in F4 it's :russell:
