The Connection Between Michael Jackson & The Neptunes - The Neptunes #1 fan site, all about Pharrell Williams and Chad Hugo

“It would’ve been great with Michael but Justin is my boy, I’m so glad that it turned out the way it did, because that was a wonderful experience for us to do that kinda work and for those songs to be brought to life” said Pharrell. Nonethenless, Usherhas also songs that were meant to be for Michael, produced by The Neptunes. In the book “Michael Jackson – For The Record” (published 2007) and “MJ – The Solo Years” (Published 2003)
it’s stated that these tracks were written for Michael Jackson.

Usher – 8721 (2001)
– U Don’t Have To Call
– I Don’t Know

Justin Timberlake – Justified (2002)
– Senorita
– Take It From Here
– Let’s Take A Ride
– Last Night
– Nothin’ Else

Usher killed it but now I wish I could hear Mike’s version

it wouldve been interesting to hear him sing those songs. all i can think of is when mj said he wanted beats that sounded more like "superthug" :russ:

Apparently, he was contacted by MJ’s manager to produce some songs for the star…but when he didn’t hear back, he gave the tracks to Justin Timberlake!:

And I’ll never forget Michael’s manager saying, ‘Yo, Michael wants some “Superthug!’And I was like, ‘What?’ I remember being so baffled and so crushed, ’cause he still is my idol…and I just had those records sitting around…

You mean like how he jumped on the New Jack Swing wave after he stopped working with Quincy?
New Jack Swing was hard though. That was the voice of the streets at that time. I get the feeling MJ thought Neptunes shyt was soft and cheesy. They’re more like imitation 80s MJ songs. It would’ve been a bad look imo
