I swam v. Competitive swimmers. That shyt is not hard. I got the same height, length and frame like Phelps, that shyt came to me naturally. I just don't have the stamina or skill due to zero training. My training was Duncan Park when I was 3 in Atlanta. My little cousin was a beast in the pool and that nikka had zero training.

Man, that shyt is easy. It wasn't a good enough sport to get my attention or anyone else I know who was nice attention.
Not every one is a natural swimmer just because y'all were good does not mean everyone else was. Y'all had a talent to swim. Especially with good form. Talent is something you can't buy. I've seen this across different sports.

Basketball is far from easy. You gotta be born with it. Nothing else fukking matters. It ain't swimming
I never said it was. I'm saying the sport doesnt call for flexibility. I cringe at just how little shoulder flexabilty they have. That something You need to have in swimming or you will never be elite. Like I said in the other post talent is something you can't buy. It happens across all sports. Different people are better at different things. Basketballers are not naturally flexabilty in the least.

I am double jointed so I got that 360 thing going but I am bow legged too. I guess you right to a degree. I just do not feel the best swimmers have came into the sport yet or discovered they can swim.

lol at this thread being 7 pages. the only way for you to find out who it the 'greatest olympian' is for all the sports to be judged individually and with the same number of opportunities for medals i.e. each separate sport has 10 events or whatever that someone could medal in. if there are team sports and individual sports, than there is no way to compare a person who dominates in both. michael phelps is a good swimmer, but being 'greatest olympian' means different things to different people. If it means that he has more medals than everyone than your definition is weak imo. oh, and this @heisenburrr guy looked like a complete tard on the first page trying to argue with @Walt
I agree, and I don't consider him the greatest Olympian because he has the most medals, I consider him the greatest Olympian because he's dominated over four olympics....that shyt is insane.

I think black kids can dominate in swim and gymnastics. I'm mean look at the African base martial arts and dance. Many black people are naturally flexible and agile. I think the problem might be getting form down. Cacs are all about form. I would like to see more black people get into "graceful" sports. A black top rhythmic gymnast would just make me melt. :mjcry: Beautiful. It would be wonderful because black people are sterotype as being "powerful but not graceful" in sports.

I disagree with people discrediting Phelps for bolt . As far as track and field goes if we want to keep it real decathlon is more important as far as greatest Olympian . If bolt was doing all track events he'd be up there . 400m 1600 , hurdles etc

I don't take away from Phelps' success

But IMO the underrated GOAT olympian is Aleksandr Karelin

He was a Russian wrestler who won three Gold medals and ended his career on a 13 year undefeated and 6 years without giving up a single point streak when he took the Silver in a controversial loss to Rulon Gardener in Sydney

Also known for his freakish strength and executing throws at Super Heavyweight that are typically seen in the lighter weight classes:
