But yeah we need more African scientists, chemists, biologists, etc...

I just learned something new today and I am in a worse mood then before.

My dad is a doctor...he's told me some stories that were just like
Everything from racist white patients refusing to have him work on them cause he was black to white doctors getting ancy about working with black patients cause for some reason they associated black skin with dirtiness and disease.

Eh. I actually came up from a fairly well to do background. Went to private schools cause my family wanted to give me and my siblings the best of everything. Grew up in a upper middle class suburb. I don't necessarily talk about it too much on here cause I felt like I'd be judged unfairly because of it. But yeah, my dad's a doctor, he's been operating from three practices from two hospitals to his own office in Pittsburgh (where I used to go as a kid to watch him do his rounds just for fun on Saturday mornings...still have memories of watching saturday morning cartoons while he was having appointments). He would always tell me tales about how he worked hard in Lagos getting his basic education essentials as a teenager, moved to London to pursue medicine at Oxford, and got a scholarship for medicine in the states in the 70s and eventually became a seasoned professional.Wait wait wait, your dad is a doctor? I thought you grew up more hardscrabble than that.![]()
How is it taking it too far when the medical establish is still guilty of this? Everything from misdiagnoses, lack of access to healthcare and affordable insurance, an obvious case of disparity between blacks and others when it comes to everything from organ donation to even basic emergency care...still goes on and has gone on. The basis of medical research, especially in the differences between blacks and whites, is rooted in social darwinism, eugenics, and scientific racism (basically claiming that blacks for inferior to whites and other races).Ya'll taking this shyt too far.
This is why I've always been really uneasy about the medicine, chemistry, and science fields. Besides the fact that black people are severely underrepresented in those fields, I've just been kind of disturbed and even frightened to some degrees given the fact that the majority of people in those field are white and most have prejudiced views of black people and people of color in general. Who knows what they're working on? Some hidden chemicals to make black men and women impotent and sterilized? Some germs that are going to be used inevitably in the next war this country has against a non-white country?
I've also been disturbed by the fact that these scientists, chemists, geneticists know more about us and our makeup then we do. They keep all of these DNA phenotypes from their travels to Africa (another reason why I'm leary of these types in African countries) to do what with?
You know how evil racism is when it's present in fields that are (should be) designed to help people.
